Vartanantz Commemorated At St. John Garabed San Diego

St. John Garabed Armenian Church and the Knights and Daughters of Vartan presented the annual Vartanantz Commemoration on Sunday, February 11. Very Rev. Father Pakrad Berjekian, Parish Priest, provided the history of St. Vartan. The Armenian Sunday School sang “Vartan Eem Hayrenyatz” and Mrs. Arshalouys Buchaklian recited the poem “Vartanank.”

The local Knights of Vartan chapter Vice Commander Chris Hokokian served as emcee and shared a video about the Knights and Daughters of Vartan. Chapter Commander Hunan Arshakian spoke about the Knights’ educational and humanitarian outreach to Armenia and the diaspora. Daughters of Vartan local chapter Matron, Naira Serobyan, gave an overview of the charitable sisterhood of the Daughters, and the ladies also provided a luncheon reception after the program. Proceeds from the event benefitted the St John Garabed Armenian Sunday School.
