Nerouj Hosted Its Inaugural Mentorship Event “The New Connect” Attracting More Than 200 Diocesan Youth

On February 11, 2018, Nerouj, with the full-fledged support of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church of North America, hosted its first successful event “The New Connect.” The moderator, well-known attorney, Bryan Kabateck of Kabateck Brown Kellner LLP, lead the discussion with five successful individuals in various fields; Dr. Andreas Hindoyan, M.D. (Interventional Cardiologist, USC Keck Medicine of USC), Raffi H. Kendirjian (CRPC, First VP, Senior Financial Advisor, Merill Lynch Wealth Management), Jacqueline Chooljian, J. (Magistrate Judge, Central District of California), Joe Khajadourian (Producer/Songwriter, The Futuristics), and Wendy Bendoni (Chair of Fashion Marketing, Woodbury University).

Nerouj, an Armenian word meaning “inner strength,” simply formalizes the well-known proverb ‘it takes a village.’ The diverse team that forms Nerouj is committed to developing a new platform for communication between the Armenian youth and Los Angeles based professionals. The mentorship programs are formally constructed to partner a mentor with the appropriate mentee to enrich the mentees ability to understand the specific/broad spectrum of their interests.

Archbishop Derderian commended the Nerouj Committee for their outstanding organizational efforts in bringing professionals and youth together in a church setting. His Eminence thanked the moderator and all panelists for sharing their stories of success with the youth. “The year 2018 has been proclaimed as the Year of the Youth by His Holiness Karekin II, the Catholicos of All Armenians. At the Western Diocese we heed to the call of His Holiness by educating and inspiring the Diocesan youth. You are the future of the Armenian Apostolic Church and the leaders of tomorrow. I pray for your health and well-being. Strengthen your faith. Remember and honor your past and seize the present,” said Archbishop Derderian in part.
