On February 21, 2018, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians welcomed His Excellency General Michel Aoun, President of the Republic of Lebanon to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin accompanied by high-ranking Lebanese government officials and His Excellency Armen Papikyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.
President Aoun was also greeted by Joseph Kanimian, Esq., member of the Supreme Spiritual Council and Chairman of the Diocesan Council of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America. Mr. Kanimian was present at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin to take part in the Supreme Spiritual Council meetings from February 20-23.
His Holiness introduced Mr. Kanimian to His Excellency as member of the Supreme Spiritual Council, and born in Lebanon. Mr. Kanimian, in Arabic welcomed the President on his inaugural visit to Armenia and the Mother See, expressing his gratitude to the Lebanese people for their genuine concern and care of the Armenian people.
General Aoun expressed his utmost appreciation to His Holiness and to those in attendance for the warm welcome and cordial hospitality.
