Dr. Richard Hovannisian’s oral history collection of the Armenian Genocide became a part of the visual history archive of the USC Shoah Foundation on Friday, March 9, 2018. Dr. Hovanissian’s library is the first audio and the largest collection of Armenian Genocide survivor testimony to be integrated for research and education worldwide.
The Diocesan Primate Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, accompanied by the Rev. Fr. Nerses Hayrapetyan attended the event, which was held at the Leavey Library of the University of Southern California.
In his remarks, the Primate commended the noble initiative of Dr. Richard Hovannisian of preserving the undeniable historical truth of the Armenian Genocide through audio and video documentaries. Archbishop Derderian also expressed his gratitude to Dr. Michael W. Quick, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs for his gracious presence at the ceremony.
