The Diocese

Archbishop Hovnan Derderian visited the new office and community center of the AGBU GenNext in Glendale. He met with the director of the program, Saro Ayvazians, who gave a tour of facility and shared his enthusiasm for the after school and mentoring program which now has a home in this center.Â

Archbishop Hovnan was extremely supportive of the program. He encouraged the efforts of Gen Next and committed diocesan resources for their use. He signaled a strong partnership between the diocese and GenNext. He emphasized the need for spirituality in every aspect of youth work and pledged to providing priests for regular visits with the students at the center. Not passing up an opportunity to share his enthusiasm, His Eminence accepted a challenge by one of the students to a game of ping-pong on one the tables in the game room. It was a match that will continue in the future with many more visits!
Last month at the opening of the Center, at Saro Ayvazian's invitation, His Eminence arranged for Fr. Vazken Movsesian to do a video welcome. View at https://tinyurl.com/frvazkengennext
