The International Christian Women’s World Day of Prayer is celebrated annually on the first Friday of March. This year’s ecumenical celebration of Southland Armenian churches was held at St. Mary’s Armenian Apostolic Church in Glendale on Friday, March 4.
The Very Rev. Fr. Dajad Dz. V. Yardemian was among the homilists at the prayer service. The theme of Fr. Yardemian's homily was "The Church of Christ, our Lord, Prays." This year’s worldwide theme was chosen by the women of Cuba who have called upon the women of the world to explore the depths of God’s love and accept the invitation to receive the realm of God as a little child (Mk. 10:13–16).
A committee of women from Armenian churches, Apostolic, Brotherhood, Catholic, Congregational, Evangelical and Nazarene planned and prepared the 46th annual event.
The World Day of Prayer aims to demonstrate that prayer and action are inseparable and that both have immeasurable influence in the world.
