Saturday School Teachers Participate in Annual Workshop

The annual Saturday School Teachers’ workshop organized by the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America was held under the auspices of the Diocesan Primate on August 11, 2018 at the Hampar Family Room.

In his remarks, Archbishop Derderian stated "The teachers are the pillars which disseminate our language and culture. Thus, through your efforts, the foundation of our schools is strengthened. As the renewal of our faith is issential to our spirituality, so is education our children with new and refined methods. It is with great joy that we announce the continuous increase in enrollment in our Diocesan Saturday Schools, for it is our ultimate purpose to cater to our children the love and knowledge of the Armenian language and cluture."      

The four-hour workshop included presentations by the following individuals:

Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Diocesan Primate:

“Spiritual Values”

Dr. Ellie Antreassian, Saturday School Executive Committee Chair:

“Mission of the Saturday School”

Dr. Garo Momjian:

“Historical turning points and their roles in the preservation of the Armenian identity”

Mashdots Jobanian, Religious Education Department Director of the Western Diocese:

“Christianity and our national identity”

Mr. Sevag Derderian, Chair - Association of Armenian Choirs of the Western Diocese:

“Armenian Religious Music – The Divine Liturgy”

Nearly 40 teachers and superintendents attended the highly informative workshop from various Diocesan parishes.
