For a number of Armenian Schools in the greater Los Angeles area, this week marked the start of the 2018-2019 academic year.
The AGBU Vatche and Tamar Manoukian School (V.T.M.) and the AGBU Manoogian-Demirdjian School (M.D.S.) welcomed back their students on August 16 and August 22, respectively. Representing the Western Diocese at the AGBU and extending to the students the blessings of the Diocesan Primate was Archpriest Fr. Sarkis Petoyan, Pastor of St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church of Pasadena. Archpriest Fr. Shnork Demirjian, Pastor of St. Peter Armenian Church of Van Nuys, represented the Primate at the opening day ceremony of the AGBU MDS in Canoga Park.

Prior to the start of the academic year at the Little Angels Saturday School of St. Leon Armenian Cathedral, a parent-teacher conference was held on Friday, August 17, 2018. Welcoming the teachers and parents were the Diocesan Primate Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, the Cathedral’s Pastor the Rev. Fr. Khajag Shahbazyan and the School’s Principal Deacon Hovhannes Gumruyan.  After welcoming remarks and an introduction to this year’s curriculum, a question and answer session followed. The first day of the 2018-2019 academic year commenced on the following day, Saturday, August 18.
The academic year at the Alfred and Marguerite Hovsepian School of St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church of Pasadena will begin on September 6, 2018. Â Â Â
