Primate Celebrant at St. Peter Armenian Church of Van Nuys

On Sunday, October 14, 2018, the Diocesan Primate H.E. Archbishop Hovnan Derderian paid a pastoral visit to St. Peter Armenian Church of Van Nuys. His Eminence was the day’s celebrant and was assisted at the Holy Altar by the pastor of the host parish Archpriest Fr. Shnork Demirjian and the deacons. In his homily, the Primate stressed the importance of spiritual growth that is conditioned and strengthened through fervent prayer. “As Christians, we ought to pray unceasingly. In our selfless prayers, we beseech the Almighty for His peace and love to reign on earth. We pray for our loved ones. We pray for forgiveness and mercy and to be remembered in God’s heavenly Kingdom,” stated His Eminence.

Archbishop Derderian also presided over the installation ceremony of the ACYO officers of the parish. His Eminence commended their zealous Christian spirit and encouraged them to serve Christ, our Lord and the Armenian Apostolic Church with renewed dedication and love. In his message to the Sunday School students, the Primate exhorted them to be motivated in their Christian Education studies and to cherish and uphold the sacred traditions of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
