His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians met with His Holiness Pope Francis in the Vatican on October 24.

The Church leaders discussed issues related to Christian communities in the Middle East, and Churches’ rights in Jerusalem.
The Pontiffs also highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation in addressing the establishment of world peace and effectively addressing modern day challenges. The recent political developments in Armenia and the steps to be taken to overcome the challenges facing the country were also discussed.
The Catholicos of All Armenians also met with Cardinal Leonardo Sandri, an Argentine Cardinal of the Catholic Church, and Cardinal Koch, President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity.
The sides touched upon ways to strengthen ties between the two Churches, and meetings within the Eastern Orthodox-Catholic dialogue.
