Vartanantz In San Diego

St. John Garabed Armenian Apostolic Church commemorated Vartanantz this past Sunday under the auspices of The Very Rev. Pakrad Berjekian. This included a blessing and installation of the newly-elected members and officers of the Parish Assembly, Diocesan Assembly, Parish Council, and chairs of church organizations, in front of the parishioners and Armenian Sunday School students.

The Vartanantz luncheon and program afterwards were co-sponsored by the Knights and Daughters of Vartan San Diego. Students from Mrs. Arshalous Buchaklian’s Western Armenian class performed Vartanantz recitations and songs. Remarks came from local Knights commander Hunan Arshakian, and Hayr Pakrad spoke on the history of the battle of Avarayr and beyond. Proceeds went to the Armenian Sunday School for Diocesan Hye Camp scholarships.
