On March 26, 2019, the Zvartnots Cultural Committee of the Western Diocese organized an evening dedicated to Armenian poet, musician and troubadour (ashugh) “Sayat Nova.”
After his welcoming remarks, Chairman Dr. Simon Simonian presented the guest lecturer, Mr. Dikran Sargsyan. An architect and sculptor by profession who has studied the life of Sayat Nova extensively under the supervision of Sayat Nova specialist Prof. Aslan Aslanian, Dr. Sargsyan referenced to fascinating details about Sayat Nova’s personal life, his unaccomplished love story and his parents.
The evening’s second guest speaker was well-known actor and singer Hovhannes Babakhanian who announced plans and negotiations of a feature movie about Sayat Nova, in which Babakhanian will portray the lead character Sayat Nova in a love story.
Remarks of commendation and gratitude to the Zvartnots Cultural Committee for their organizational prowess of cultural events were made by Archpriest Fr. Manoug Markarian.
The event concluded with a closing prayer.
Established in 2011, The ZVARTNOTS CULTURAL COMMITTEE of the Western Diocese has been offering the jewels of Armenian culture to the community through a variety of cultural events.
