Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer. Companies spend fortunes delivering radio ads and commercials about the excitement of summer that arrives with the holiday. However, how often do we ponder and reflect on the solemnity of this day? From the Christian perspective, sacrificing the most precious God-given gift of life for others is the ultimate expression of love. “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.” (1 John 3:16).
I call upon you to take a moment on Memorial Day to pray to the Almighty for all those who sacrificed their lives for liberty, righteousness and freedom, values that will forever be cherished.
I pray that you have a blessed and wonderful Memorial Day.
