Mer Hooys Update - Holy Week

On Saturday, March 26, 2016, His Holiness Catholicos Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians welcomed the older residents of Mer Hooys who visited Etchmiadzin Park and the Mother Cathedral for Holy Week.  His Holiness invited the girls to share tea and refreshments, and participated in the traditional Easter Egg competition with the girls.  The majority of girls at Mer Hooys do not have a living or available father figure.  His Holiness is a devoted patriarch of the Mer Hooys program, visits with the girls regularly and provides them with fatherly love and support. He strongly encourages each of the girls to study hard and seriously pursue their education.  

Back at the Center, all of the girls participated in Bible Study regarding Easter and Holy Week, and enjoyed an Easter party with staff in the new psychology therapy room.  In May 2016, all of the girls, who are from disadvantaged backgrounds with one or no living parent, will be baptized.
