The Armenian National Committee of America – Glendale (ANCA Glendale) held its 3rd annual Award and Appreciation Gala on Sunday, August 25th, 2019 at Renaissance Banquet Hall in Glendale. The Diocesan Primate His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian attended the event accompanied by Mr. Derik Ghookasian, Vice-Chair of the Diocesan Council and Archpriest Fr. Manoug Markarian, Pastor of St. John Garabed Armenian Church of Hollywood.
In his invocation, Archbishop Derderian reflected on the invaluable mission of the Armenian National Committee of America. “ANCA is one of the most revered and distinguished organizations. Tonight’s gathering celebrates the most notable achievements of individuals and institutions who have worked hard for the betterment of the Armenian-American community of Glendale. Educate, Activate and Motivate are tonight’s gala themes and they are three leading thoughts which have empowered and have defined the ANCA,” stated His Eminence in part.
The ANCA Glendale Award recipients were Archpriest Fr. Vazken Atmajian (Lifetime Achievement Award); Armenian Youth Association of California (Woodrow Wilson Public Service Award); YWCA Glendale (Maria Jacobsen Humanitarian Award); Asbarez Daily Newspaper (Hye Tahd Award); Lena Kortoshian (Community Service Award); and Nicholetta Sarkissian (Youth Activist Award).
