St. Leon Armenian Cathedral was filled to capacity on Sunday, December 6 for the celebration of the Divine Liturgy. With the Diocesan Primate Archbishop Hovnan Derderian presiding over the service, the day's celebrant was the Rev. Fr. Khajag Shahbazyan, the Cathedral's Pastor.
Assisted by Fr. Khajag Shahbazyan and the Deacons of the Cathedral Parish, the Primate ordained six altar servers into the Diaconate including Rafik Mughnetsyan, Garen Hamamjian, Mike Dermendjian, Varaz Markarian, Tigran Khachikyan and Alen Shirvanian.Â
His Eminence congratulated the newly ordained deacons calling upon them to renew their commitment to serving our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. "The order of deacon has been conferred upon each of you today. As you renew your covenant with the Almighty, we call upon you to uphold the Christian values, spread the sacred teachings of Christ our Lord, be defenders of your ancestral Christian faith and cherish the holy traditions of the Armenian Apostolic Church," said His Eminence to the deacons.
