Cathedral’s Ladies Society Hosts Nativity Dinner at the Kalaydjian Hall:  Young Armenian Families Honored

More than 350 people had gathered at the Nazareth and Sima Kalaydjian Hall on January 6, 2020 for a Christmas celebration dinner organized by the Ladies Society of St. Leon Armenian Cathedral.

Celebrating the Feast of the Nativity as a Diocesan family has become a revered tradition at the Western Diocese. The program commenced with the Home Blessing service by the Diocesan clergy of the Greater Los Angeles area.

His Excellency Akira Muto, Consul General of Japan in Los Angeles was among the dignitaries in attendance. In his address, Consul General Muto reflected on the close partnership between the two nations, referencing to the visit of the Japanese Ambassador in Armenia to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin last month. His Excellency also highlighted the exceptional event in September of 2019 in which the co-organizers (Consulate General of Japan and the Western Diocese) honored the legacy of Diana Apcar, Armenia’s first ambassador to Japan and a crucial bridge for safety for Armenian refugees in Japan during the early 20th century.

During the event, ten young Armenian families were honored by the Diocesan Primate for their dedication to the Armenian Church, commitment to embracing the Armenian identity and Christian values.

The guests were entertained by the performances of Classic String Quartet, the Sound of Children Choir conducted by Mrs. Sirvard Kavoukjian and DJ Narek.
