Mer Hooys held a successful fundraising concert on February 22, 2020, hosted by the Armenian Studies Program at California State University Fresno. The event featured several talented musicians, who performed on piano, violin, cello and vocal numbers.
Pianist Dr. Michael Krikorian led off the program with selections by Arno Babajanian and Sergei Rachmaninoff. Vocalists Clarise and Colette Compton, and Lauren Movsesian, accompanied by Derrick Lowe, performed show tunes and the beautiful Armenian folk song Dzidzernag. Cellist Garik Terzian and violinist Armen Derkevorkian joined Dr. Krikorian in the hauntingly beautiful performances of Babajanian's Piano Trio in F-Sharp Minor, and Vocalise.
More than 200 guests rose to their feet in tribute to the talented musicians. They enjoyed a wonderful buffet refreshment table after the concert.
Mer Hooys Board is grateful to all who participated in the event as sponsors, attendees, and planners. The event proceeds go directly to the cost of program operations in Yerevan, Armenia.
