Four years ago a simple question was asked, “How to embrace our faith in a changing world?” The answer was came with a word that became a conference: Reclaim!
Reclaim 2020 is taking place March 13, 14 and 15 at the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church in Burbank, California. This year the focus will be Holy Etchmiadzin, the Christ-Center of the Armenian people. With talks, videos, discussions, meditations and prayers, this Conference promises to once-again help participants “Reclaim” something the precious Faith that ties us to God and all His creation.
Event organizer Fr. Vazken Movsesian explains, “The Reclaim Conference is about taking ownership of our Faith. When we learn how precious and dear our Faith is, we also understand that it is within reach, it is accessible. We reclaim not what is lost, but what has always been ours.”
Diocesan Primate, Archbishop Hovnan Derderian who will be leading the conference expresses his strong feelings and love for Holy Etchmiadzin as “Etchmiadzin, a sacred place, where I see the image of God, a place turned into prayer from the depth of centuries.” In this context, participants will come to experience Etchmiadzin as the Christ-Center of the Armenian people.
The Reclaim conference begins Friday evening with prayers and a fellowship with music and interactions. Saturday morning starts with an optional early morning hike in the local hills of Burbank. Lectures, movies, discussions are the course for the day. Accenting the Conference will be private confessions for participants who so desire this unique opportunity. The Archbishop and priests will be on hand throughout the day as leaders and participants of the discussions. In the evening a “Spiritual Supper” will take place for all the participants which will be dedicated to the holy miuron, topped with a blessing from His Holiness Karekin II himself! Sunday, with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, the conference comes to an end.
