Renowned CHLA Physician Dr. Thomas Lee Honored

Since the inception of the Western Diocese – Children's Hospital Los Angeles Special Events Committee in 2014, the ties between the two institutions have reached new heights. 

In 2014, Dr. Thomas Lee, the Director of the Vision Center at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles was honored by the Primate with a certificate of blessing and commendation for his God-pleasing and tireless work in Armenia saving eyesight in premature infants. In appreciation of his noble endeavors, the renowned physician also was also presented the Archbishop’s Award in addition to having a tufa cross-stone (khatchkar) consecrated and dedicated in his honor. 

During the celebration of the Divine Liturgy at St. Leon Armenian Cathedral on December 6, 2015, Dr. Thomas Lee and his family were introduced to the congregation by the Diocesan Primate His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian. The Primate noted the astonishing feats of the renowned physician in preventing blindness in premature infants in addition to his extensive medical work in Armenia. 

In his address to Dr. Lee, the Primate said "You are the carrier of God's divine love. Through your humanitarian spirit and compassionate heart, you have changed the lives of children in the Republic of Armenia. May God's divine grace and blessings accompany you and your family be with you always."  

Archbishop Derderian blessed the honorable family wishing them peace, love and joy in the festive Christmas season.
