Cec'S Annual Back To Sunday School Workshop

The annual “Back to Sunday School” workshop was held on Saturday, September 12, 2020. Twenty-eight participants including Diocesan clergy, Sunday School superintendents, and teachers took part in the workshop. The Diocesan Primate Archbishop Hovnan Derderian joined in the conference from the Diocesan Headquarters with Mashdots Jobanian, Director of the Christian Education Department of the Western Diocese and Hayk Madoyan, the Diocese’s Librarian and Ecumenical Officer and Vahe Sargsyan, Superintendent of the Cathedral's Sunday School.
 
Given the present restrictions associated with the pandemic, thoughts and ideas were exchanged to ensure the continuity of the Sunday School mission. During the conference, the Primate shared following guidelines/directives with all participants.  
 
It was suggested that Sunday School children attend the Divine Liturgy service where they can receive their instruction and Bible’s daily message from the Parish priest and/or from the Superintendent. In some parishes, where Church attendance by the students is not possible, a 25-30 min Zoom class meeting organized by the Superintendent was suggested, using such available resources as the newly presented curriculum and informational archives that are available on the CEC website including the Bible reading calendar, educational and instructional videos. Offering the vast resources of the Western Diocese related to Christian Education, the close bond between the parishes and the Diocesan Headquarters was reiterated.
 
As the conference drew to a close, Archbishop Derderian expressed his gratitude to the participants and commended their zealous Christian spirit of instilling the divine love of God in the hearts of the children.
