Parish Council of the Armenian Church of Boise, Idaho Appointed

On October 9, 2025, the Diocesan Primate of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America, Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, accompanied by the Visiting Priest to the Armenian-American community of Boise, Idaho, the Rev. Fr. Vazgen Boyajyan, traveled to the “Gem State” to meet with the growing Armenian community. The visit marked a significant milestone in the life of the local faithful, as the Armenian presence in Idaho has expanded remarkably in recent years—from only a handful of families to a flourishing community of over 500.

Recognizing the need to strengthen the spiritual life of this vibrant community, Archbishop Derderian took decisive steps to ensure the continuity and growth of the Armenian Apostolic Church in the region. During his pastoral visit, the Archbishop appointed a nine-member Parish Council to assist in the organization and development of the Armenian Church of Boise, Idaho. This newly established council will serve as a vital bridge between the clergy and the faithful, helping to coordinate church activities, maintain community outreach, and uphold the spiritual mission of the Armenian Church.

With the pastoral leadership of Archbishop Derderian and the Rev. Fr. Vazgen Boyajyan, the clergy will soon conduct orientation meetings with the Parish Council, focusing on church organization and community engagement. The appointment of the council marks a new and hopeful chapter for the Armenian community in Boise, ensuring that the faith, traditions, and values of the Armenian Apostolic Church will continue to thrive for generations to come.
