On Saturday October 8, 120 friends and supporters of the Ventura County parish gathered at the beautiful Moorpark Country Club to celebrate at the 9th anniversary of the Armenian Apostolic Church of Ventura County.
A cocktail reception was held on the serene candlelit outdoor terrace of the club with mountain and golf course views. Guests mingled inside and out during the silent auction and enjoyed socializing and shopping the auction items. Amazing silent and live auction items were donated ranging from a Four Seasons Hotel stay and Spa, Lakers tickets, stunning jewelry pieces, to restaurant cards, golf outings, Armenian artwork and gift baskets.
The Diocesan Primate Archbishop Hovnan Derderian attended the gala accompanied by the Very Rev. Fr. Yeremia Abgaryan and Archpriest Fr. Arshag Khatchadourian, the parish's Visiting Priest. In his inspirational message, His Eminence noted the importance of working together to grow and support the parish in the years to come.
Commending the close collaboration of the auxiliary bodies of the parish, the Primate wrote “Tonight’s gala banquet demonstrates your commitment to the Armenian Apostolic Church and to upholding the sacred traditions which we commonly hold in reverence. As a parish family, you have displayed your enduring affection and compassion for your brothers and sisters in Christ”
Reflecting on the promise of the Ventura County parish, His Eminence continued “We strongly believe that the Armenian Church of Ventura County has the ability to become an exemplary parish of the Western Diocese. Through fervent prayer and a common vision to build the House of God, the parish will thrive, enabling the young generation, the heirs and the future of our Church, to ensure the vivacity of the world’s oldest Christian institution.”
