The last episcopal celebration of the Divine Liturgy was held at St. John Garabed Armenian Church on Sunday, November 6, 2016. The day’s celebrant was the Diocesan His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian.

Archbishop Derderian was also the celebrant at St. Vartan Cathedral in New York a week prior, in a service presided by His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians.
The demolition of the present church building is scheduled in the upcoming days. In the interim, fellowship services are planned and dates of those services will be announced in the upcoming weeks.

About St. John Garabed Armenian Church of Hollywood
The present St. John Garabed Armenian Church building was built in 1928. It was originally a Methodist Church building. With the tireless and dedicated efforts of the faithful, the building was acquired in 1973 and was renamed “St. John Garabed Armenian Apostolic Church.”
The church located in the heart of Hollywood quickly became the holy sanctuary of the Armenian-American community not only in Hollywood but also the entire city of Los Angeles. The church became the unifying bridge between the Diaspora of Los Angeles and the homeland of Armenia.
