The Diocese

His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate, is pleased to announce the start of evening vesper services, every weeknight, Monday through Friday, at 10:00PM in the St. Nishan chapel (at the St. Leon Armenian Cathedral). Services begin on Monday, November 21, 2016, coinciding with the beginning of the Advent Season, a 50-day period of preparation before the Holy Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The services are geared toward the youth of the Diocese, although the people of all ages will benefit from these inspirational and meditative services. Every night, the doors of the St. Nishan chapel will open at 10:00 PM. Priests of the Diocese will lead the service, however, the services are self-directed, that is, they are meant for everyone to participate and lead.
Archbishop Hovnan explains, “Prayer alone illuminates the paths of our lives. Prayer purifies and centers our lives on God.” Hence, we have created another opportunity for our faithful people to brighten their lives and center their lives around God. In particular, “Our youth will know that every evening, their church is open and invites them to find sanctuary, to end the day in peace, harmony and fellowship with other young people,” says, Fr. Vazken Movsesian who is organizing these services.
What better way to end the day, than with prayer? The services are brief and are conducted in both the Armenian and English languages. Join us!
