CEC Holds 5th Annual Advent Fair at Ararat Home

On November 13th, Sunday Schools all across the Western Diocese came together at the Ararat Home for an Advent Fair to kick off the holiday season on a high note.  The event was organized by the wonderful chairlady, Gail Chelebian and her amazing CEC (Christian Education Council) board.

The children started their morning with a lovely devotional led by the Rev. Fr. Krikor Zakaryan and were later dismissed to create special gifts for the residents of the Ararat Home all while getting in the holiday spirit and learning about our Christian faith.  Crafts were led by the dedicated CEC board along with Sunday School teachers.  The crafts included wreath making, Magi crowns, Wise Men activities, Advent greeting cards and many more!

After a fun morning of getting in the Christmas spirit, everyone was treated to a delicious lunch prepared by the Ararat Home.  After lunch, it was time for the students to shine during their performance where they sang Christmas songs and their Sunday School 2016-17 theme song, "Climb Every Mountain" to the Ararat Home residents in which they enjoyed greatly.  The students then distributed their holiday cards and crafts to them as well as a beautiful wreath decorated by the Sunday School students for them to enjoy.  It was so great seeing the impact each and every child made on everyone in the room.

Later in the day, the kids were able to wind down with a Nushkhar making session with Fr. Sarkis, followed by a visit with the Ararat Home residents.

I am sure that I am speaking for everyone when I say this event was very successful and we hope the attendance grows in the years to come.

Faithfully,

Lauren Vartanian

St. James LA Sunday School teacher
