Diocesan Staff and Committee Chairs Meeting

A meeting between the Diocesan Staff and Committee Chairs of the Western Diocese was held on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at the Hampar Family Room. Presided by the Diocesan Primate, members of the Diocesan Council Joseph Kanimian, Esq. (Chair), Barkev Hamalian, and Vahe Skenderian also participated in the meeting.

The meeting was geared toward establishing a more cohesive and efficient work environment between Diocesan committees and staff as it pertains to functions, missions and projects. Topics on the agenda included organizational issues, the 90th anniversary celebration of the Western Diocese as well as the 2017 master calendar.

Welcoming remarks were delivered by the Primate who explained the purpose of the gathering and introduced the Diocesan Council Chairman for his remarks. Mr. Kanimian expressed his gratitude to the Primate, the committee chairs and members and the Diocesan staff for their dedicated service.

In recognition of her unwavering service, the administrative assistant of the Western Diocese Nune Torosyan was recognized by the Primate and the Diocesan Council as the Staff Member of the Year.

Remarks were made by the Executive Director Harout Markarian who briefed the committee members on the weekly workload of the Western Diocese, encouraged active participation in the Diocesan life through the Diocesan website, social media, e-newsletters and blogs and lastly sought feedback from the committee members in order to further enhance the collaboration between the Diocesan headquarters and the committees.

The 2017 master calendar was presented by Mr. Diran Avagyan, Director of Program Management and Special Assignments who thoroughly introduced the upcoming events and functions scheduled at the Western Diocese in 2017 as part of the 90th anniversary celebration.

Father Vazken Movsesian also introduced programs aimed at youth involvement in the life of the Armenian Church with the first being the evening vespers service at the St. Nishan Chapel of the Cathedral beginning on Monday, November 21, 2016 and the much anticipated youth rally scheduled to be held in March 2017.

The meeting concluded with a collective prayer and a light reception hosted by Mrs. Lena Simonian and Mrs. Meline Agagianian.
