On Saturday, December 10, 2016, the Rev. Fr. Mardiros Chevian, Dean of St. Nersess Armenian Seminary, met with the altar servers of St. James Armenian Church in Sacramento.Â

The clergyman spoke with youth about the importance of being ready to begin our journey in the morning when we wake up and to understand that the participation in the Divine Liturgy is about the unity of heaven and earth and that the faithful need to prepare themselves both physically and spiritually for this extraordinary event. Father Chevian also noted that during the Divine Liturgy, the angels and saints join us in celebration.

Later in the afternoon, Fr. Mardiros met with the youth group of the parish and informed them about the summer conferences held at St. Nersess Armenian Seminary in New York. He also provided a historical background about the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem and its importance for our pilgrims.Â

On Sunday, December 11, Fr. Mardiros celebrated the Divine Liturgy and delivered the day’s homily. In his sermon, the celebrant priest talked about being open to serving God and hearing God’s call in each of us. He noted that we all serve our Lord in different capacities as laypeople and as ordained clergy.Â
Following the service, Fr. Mardiros gave an informative presentation about St. Nersess Armenian Seminary. He spoke about the establishment of St. Nersess Armenian Seminary and its goal. He showed the video, Vision of Grace and also answered questions from parishioners.Â
