44Th Debutante Ball To Be Held On February 13

It is an exciting time for eleven young women of Armenian descent as they prepare to be presented at the 44th Debutante Ball of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America.  This year’s event, organized by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Western Diocese, will be held on Saturday, February 13 in the Crystal Ballroom of the world famous Beverly Hills Hotel.    The Ball will begin with a 5:00 p.m. Reception, followed by the Presentation of the Debutantes at 6:00 p.m., and dinner and dancing at 7:00 p.m.  

Reminiscent of days of old, this rite of passage is a joyful celebration of heritage, youth, and beginnings which equally engulf the audience as much as its participants.   His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese, states:  “The Debutante Ball is a tradition within the Western Diocese that sets the foundation of Christian fellowship among the youth.  We celebrate the young generation who are on the threshold of a new beginning in their lives.” Cindy Norian, Chair of the Ladies Auxiliary, noted that the Ball is an elegant event that centers on our youth.  The Ball celebrates the sacred institution of family, our shared Armenian heritage, and the  Christian values which we hold in reverence.  It brings the youth from all our churches together in a festive atmosphere and is regarded by the Armenian community as one of its most beautiful evenings.  “One of the pleasures of recent years,”  stated Norian “has been welcoming as debutantes and escorts the daughters and sons of past participants.” To commemorate this memorable event, a booklet is prepared not only as a program for the evening, but also a treasured keepsake souvenir for the Debutantes, Escorts, Cross Bearers and their families.
