“Together we can revolutionize the Church,” said Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese. Quoted in reference to the “RECLAIM” Conference, Archbishop Derderian extended an invitation to young and old to participate in this unprecedented event which takes place March 10-12 at the Diocesan Cathedral Complex in Burbank.
The three day “Faith Rally” as conference organizers call it, is an experiment and hand-on confrontation with issues of faith and practical approaches to living a full and productive life in tune with a faith in Jesus Christ as prescribed by the Armenian Church. “Embracing our Faith in a Changing World” is the theme of this conference.

“This is not a lesson in the Armenian Church,” says Fr. Vazken Movsesian, who heads the RECLAIM committee. “Our Sunday Schools and Bible Studies do a great job of teaching the stories and the facts of faith. This is about engaging in dialogue with people who are motivated and inspired by the spirit.”
Among the two-dozen different presentations will be musicians, artists, professionals and of course priests, who will share different dimensions of the spiritual life with attendees. A quick look at the line-up of presentations shows large cross-section of professional among which are recording artist/musician Gor Mkhitarian, artist Gregory Beylerian, Playwright/Comedian Lory Tatoulian and Spiritual-dance artist Shakeh Major Tchilingirian. Participants will have an opportunity to meet with and share with people who are “embracing their faith in a changing world.”
“We’re targeting young professionals for whom matters of the soul and spirit are essential. We want to present the Armenian Church as a viable source for spiritual nourishment,” says Fr. Vazken. “All conference events – classes, meditations, service-project, worship services, morning hike, art projects provide the necessary spiritual tools to move from the secular to the sacred; to find comfort, strength and courage to live the Christian life.” The three-day format for this conference will offer time for instruction, expression, introspection, artistic exploration and fellowship. International participation is welcome.
These three-days are not to be missed. The nominal cost of $125/person covers all materials, events and meals for the three days. Thanks to the generosity of donors and the Diocesan parishes, many scholarships are available. The organizing committee has made it clear that NO ONE will be refused because of inability to pay. Registration is a must at www.Embracing-Faith.com (Click on the “Scholarship” button for secure and confidential financial assistance.)
