Aaccwd Chairman Takes Part In Mount Davidson Cross 20Th Anniversary Program – Conducts Choir Of St. John Armenian Church In San Francisco

On Saturday, February 18, the Council of Armenian American Organizations of Northern California held a 20^th anniversary program in support of their continued mission of the Mount Davison Cross (San Francisco, CA). The cross was purchased by the council at a city auction in 1997 and was then re-dedicated as a memorial to the victims of the 1915 Armenian Genocide. AACCWD Chairman Sevag Derderian was proud to accept an invitation to attend this worthy event and firmly stated his support to such a wonderful and meaningful cause. The evening featured Dr. Mary Papazian (President, San Jose State University) as the keynote speaker and a musical program by Karo & Nadima Avakian.

On Sunday, February 19, Mr. Derderian participated in the celebration of the Divine Liturgy with parish priest Rev. Father Mesrop Ash at Saint John Armenian Apostolic Church.  The chairman was honored to conduct the Saint John Armenian Church Choir and reassured its continued support on behalf of the Association of Armenian Church Choirs of the Western Diocese (AACCWD). The AACCWD remains committed in further expanding its musical education outreach and will be featuring additional workshops, training sessions, and master classes throughout the Diocese this year.
