The American Red Cross marked its Centennial on Thursday, March 16, 2017 with a grandiose celebration at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
The gala event was attended by the Diocesan Primate Archbishop Hovnan Derderian and Diocesan Council Chair and American Red Cross Los Angeles Region (ARCLAR) Board Member Joseph Kanimian, Esq. who was accompanied by his spouse Karine.
Notable attendees included Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and ARCLAR CEO Jarett Barrios. ABC 7 Eyewitness News co-anchor Marc Brown was the Master of Ceremonies. The entertainer of the evening was singer and songwriter Alison Porter, Season 10 winner of the acclaimed television series The Voice.
In his remarks, Archbishop Derderian reflected on the invaluable services of the American Red Cross. “We commend and applaud the life-saving and disaster relief missions of the American Red Cross. The Western Diocese has been a long-time partner in their noble mission for over a decade and we look forward to further solidifying our bond of partnership,” said His Eminence.
Joseph Kanimian, Esq., twelve-year member of the ARCLAR Board of Directors stated “It has been an honor to serve on the ARCLAR in a team of devout members whose priority is centralized on community outreach and humanitarian assistance.”
The American Red Cross Los Angeles Region serves nearly 10 million people in 88 cities within Los Angeles County.
