ADAA and Antaeus Theater Company Join Forces for Two Reading Events in Downtown Glendale

The Armenian Dramatic Arts Alliance, in conjunction with Antaeus Theater Company (the Kiki and David Gindler Performing Arts Center in Glendale) presented two nights of readings which consisted of three 20-minute excerpts from the finalist plays of The Karen Kondazian Award for Armenian Stories and three 20-minute excerpts from the finalist plays of The Saroyan/Paul Human Rights Playwriting Prize. The events were held on April 23 and April 24, respectively.

Both readings were produced by Antaeus Theater Company and The Armenian Dramatic Arts Alliance.

The Diocesan Primate attended the first event on April 23, 2017. In his remarks, Archbishop Derderian stressed the vital role of the ADAA in promoting the Armenian culture and voicing the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. His Eminence commended the outstanding leadership of the ADAA extending to them his pastoral blessings and heartfelt wishes in their future endeavors.

The Saryoyan/Paul Human Rights Playwriting Prize is sponsored by the William Saroyan Foundation and the Lillian and Varnum Paul Fund at the Wstern Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America and administered by the ADAA.

The Karen Kondazian Award for Armenian Stories is sponsored by Karen Kondazian and administered by the Armenian Dramatic Arts Alliance.

The Forgotten Bread by Sevan K. Greene was recognized as the Winner of the Karen Kondazian Award for Armenian Stories! It was directed by Armina LaManna.

The Good Minister From Harare by June Audrey Carryl Lomena was chosen as the winner of the $10,000 Saroyan Paul Human Rights Play Writing Prize.
