His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America was the guest speaker at the Rotary LA5 on Friday, April 28, 2017. Archbishop Derderian presented the history of the Armenian Nation.
Archbishop Derderian stressed the vitality of the Christian Faith in the religious identity of the Armenians. “The Christian Faith cannot be uprooted from the spirituality of our people. Since the Christianization of Armenia in 301, especially at times of hardship, pain, and sorrow, our people identified their fate with the Passion of Christ focusing their gaze on dawn of Holy Resurrection. Finding healing, peace, and closure for our grief in the Passion of Christ is the paradox of Armenian survival. Yet, in the mystery of Holy resurrection, we learned how to reconstruct our lives and thrive in the face of adversity,” said Archbishop Derderian in part.
Reflecting on the resiliency of the Armenian people, the Primate said “Armenia, a small nation, unnoticeable in numbers yet rich in spiritual and moral treasures will continue to be the beacon of light and hope,” he continued.
