The Diocese

Following the Clergy Conference, a meeting, with the participation of Parish Priests and Parish Council members, was held at the Hampar Room of the Western Diocese on May 4, 2017. Presided over by the Primate, the meeting was facilitated by the executive director of the Western Diocese Dn. Harout Markarian.
The relations between the Diocese and parishes were discussed. To ensure a cohesive bond, direct and open communication was strongly encouraged with priests acting as the unifying bridges in the aforementioned relationship. Priests and PC members were asked to lead pilgrimages to the Diocese and to utilize and incorporate the online resources and social media platforms offered by the Western Diocese.
Matters related to administrative life of a parish were presented by the Diocese’s executive director Dn. Harout Markarian.
The Rev. Fr. Avedis, Abovian, Pastor of Holy Apostles Armenian Church in La Crescenta addressed the importance of long-term projection of the mission of a parish and the Diocese. Mission-oriented action plans and projects were introduced for consideration. The use of professional leadership counselors to assist the priest and parish councils in honing the vision and mission of each parish were suggested.
A general discussion and an exchange of thoughts and ideas followed.
The meeting was adjourned following a closing prayer after which the participants posed for a group photo at the Turpanjian Plaza of the St. Leon Armenian Cathedral.
