Primate Represented at the Opening of AUA's Zaven & Sonia Akian College of Science and Engineering

It was a source of pride for the Western Diocese as Mr. & Mrs. Zaven and Sonia Akian were honored during the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Zaven & Sonia Akian College of Science and Engineering at the American University in Armenia.

His Eminence Abp. Hovnan Derderian, represented by Fr. Mesrop Ash, expressed his congratulations to the family on the auspicious occasion, which marked the laudable expansion of the crucial academic institution located in Yerevan, Armenia.

Founded on September 21, 1991, The Zaven & Sonia Akian College of Science and Engineering (CSE) was one of the two founding colleges of AUA.

The Zaven & Sonia Akian College of Science and Engineering aspires to create an environment of high-quality science and engineering education, inspiring an interactive intellectual exchange between students, professors, researchers, and industry. The CSE is committed to serving Armenia and the region at-large in the exploration and promotion of creative technological solutions and value-creation through its applied programs designed to help students gain the necessary skills and knowledge required to be productive and innovative leaders in their fields.

The Akian family has long been engaged in the life of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church, raising their children and grand-children within the institutions of the Sunday School, ACYO, and Summer Camp.
