Mr. and Mrs. Armen and Haikouhi Kavoukjian hosted a fundraiser benefitting Starkey Hearing Foundation’s Mission Armenia program at Porter Valley Country Club in Northridge on June 11, 2017. The Rev. Fr. Serovbe Alanjian represented the Primate at the event and commended the God-pleasing mission of the hosts as well as the Starkey Foundation.

The event raised substantial funds to initiate an ongoing community-based sustainable program through which a number of people with hearing loss in Armenia may benefit from such vital devices as hearing aid kits and continuous care. This year alone, Starkey Hearing Foundation will reach close to 2,000 people in Armenia alone who are experiencing hearing loss. A generous donation of $3,000 was made on behalf of the Agape Circle of the Western Diocese by Mrs. Alice Chakrian, Chair of the Agape Circle.

Mrs. Kavoukjian, stated “The possibility of expansion in the field of audiology is limitless with the help of the Starkey Foundation. The proceeds from the successful fundraiser will be allocated to the inaugural mission in Armenia, helping our brothers and sisters to once again regain the gift of hearing.”

According to the World Health Organization, more than 360 million people have disabling hearing loss, with the greatest prevalence living in developing countries. Unfortunately, less than three percent of these individuals can afford hearing aids or even have access to the care they need. We are working tirelessly to change this by building strong partnerships, empowering local teams and expanding our three-phase Community-Based Hearing HealthCare model around the world.
