Primate Visits Sound of Music Summer Camp

For eight weeks, beginning on June 12, the Sound of Music Art School, a uniquely designed children’s summer program under the auspices of St. Peter Armenian Church of Van Nuys, operated at full enrollment. Highly qualified instructors of the musical and cultural program for children of the children of the San Fernando Valley taught Armenian language, religion, ethics, music, arts and-crafts, sports, cooking and chess.   

On July 27, the Diocesan Primate accompanied by Special Projects Coordinator Mr. Diran Avagyan visited St. Peter Armenian Church where they met with the students and staff. Archbishop Derderian commended the exceptional organizational efforts of Archpriest Fr. Shnork Demirjian and Mrs. Sirvard Kavoukjian and the administrative staff for instilling in the hearts of the youth the love for God, the Armenian Church and the rich heritage of the Armenian people.

To the delight of the Primate the children also performed songs Archbishop Derderian in the sanctuary of the host parish.
