ACYO European Youth Conference in Bucharest and Suchava

With the blessings of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, an ACYO European Conference was hosted by the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Romania from August 10-14, 2017. Bearing the theme “Church and Family,” youth from 33 countries including Armenia, Russia, the United States of America, Georgia, the Middle East and Africa attended the conference along with their spiritual leaders.

In his address to the youth, His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America and the Director of the Pan-ACYO stated in part “…What shall be the role the youth of the Pan-ACYO in the 21st century? We live in a lightning-paced world with tremendous advancements in all facets of life. However, the sad reality is the absence of faith, which creates an unimaginable spiritual void in one’s heart and becomes the source of wickedness in society. In this day and age, the Armenian youth bears numerous noble responsibilities namely, the preservation of the Christian identity, a patriotic spirit, the deep knowledge of culture, a firm presence in the various professional fields, and the keen awareness of the Armenian identity. These fulfillment of these responsibilities are conditioned by our loyalty to the Motherland Armenia and the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.”

Archbishop Derderian extend his deep appreciation to His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians for his fatherly love and care. His Eminence also conveyed his fraternal love to all Priests and Bishops who wholeheartedly believe and support the common vision of the Armenian youth and expressed his gratitude to His Grace Bishop Datev Hagopian for his compassionate and inspirational leadership.
