With hearts and minds eager to learn about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Armenian Church, the Sunday School of St. Peter Armenian Church in Glendale once again opened its doors to the youth of the community. With a current enrollment of 20 students, an active Sunday School was the initiative and vision of the Rev. Fr. Yeghia Isayan, the Parish Priest who assumed his pastoral duties little over a year ago.
Experiencing steady growth on a weekly basis, the children learn about the teachings, miracles and parables of Jesus, incorporating them in their daily lives.
On September 24, 2017, the children learned about St. George (Kevork) the Warrior, an early Christian martyr who during the Middle Ages became an ideal of martial valor and selflessness. Children listened attentively to the legend of St. Kevork rescuing a Libyan king’s daughter from a dragon and then slaying the monster in return for a promise by the king’s subjects to be baptized.Â
The Sunday School of St. Peter Armenian Church keenly follows and implements the curriculum provided by the Christian Education Council of the Western Diocese under the leadership of Mrs. Gail Chelebian.
