A special meeting of the Pan-ACYO met on Saturday, October 14 in Yerevan, to discuss a multinational event to take place in Armenia next year.
His Holiness Karekin II, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians has officially designated the year 2018 as the Year of the Youth and has appointed His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, the Primate of the Western Diocese, to head the organization and actualization of the spiritually renewing program which will culminate in an international gathering of youth in Armenian in July 2018. Gevorg Mkrtchyan, who runs the Pan-ACYO office in Yerevan conducted the meeting.
Fr. Vazken Movsesian represented Archbishop Derderian at the Yerevan meeting, where youth delegates had come from all of the dioceses of Armenia. Gevorg Mkrtchyan capably led the meeting where delegates offered comments and opinions regarding the organization of the July event. Each diocese was assigned to bring the blessings of their specific geographic area to he table, to discuss how to better facilitate the international gathering. Since earlier this year, Archbishop Derderian has been meeting with youth delegates from different countries. Earlier this year he was in Romania for a meeting of the European delegates. This process will continue into the earlier part of next year.
At the Yerevan meeting, Fr. Vazken passed along the blessings of Archbishop Derderian and expressed the importance of remaining vigilant to the goals and aspirations that we hold dear to our heart. With a prayer the delegates left the meeting ready to take on the challenges in preparation for next year’s meeting.
