Primate's Thanksgiving Day Message

Each time we celebrate Thanksgiving in our spiritual life, undoubtedly we pose for a second to value the gift of life grace upon us by the Almighty. Thanksgiving can only be fulfilling when our faith is reflected in action. The whole meaning of Thanksgiving can be summarized in one thought: “Sharing with one another the gifts of God.” Thanksgiving Day is a day of transfiguration in our spirituality. It is the day to live with God but above all, to enlighten the lives of the people of God in a world where suffering and pain has disrupted the peaceful life of humanity.

For a Christian Thanksgiving Day is the day of renewal of the faith life. When the responsibility of giving is shared equally by all of us, then the world will no longer witness hunger and poverty and people suffering from loneliness and pain. Therefore, let us live a luminous life to instill peace in our hearts through our noble actions. Above all, Thanksgiving Day is the day for the members of the family to gather around the table, break bread together, have forgiving hearts for one another and empowered by the gifts of the Holy Spirit, to begin a new journey in the vineyard of God.

I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!

Prayerfully,

Archbishop Hovnan Derderian

Primate
