Christmas Eve was celebrated at St. Leon Srbots Ghevontyants Armenian Cathedral with a special service complete with a live Nativity Scene. While singing Christmas carols, the humble scene at the Bethlehem Stable - Christ the Savior born and placed in a manger - was recreated by members of the community.
It was an evening for old time Christmas Carols. His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian blessed the children and gave a moving message about the holiness of the Christmas Season.
Baby Ema Haughey played the role of Jesus along with parents Alex & Anna (Gregorian) Haughey dressed as Joseph & Mary. A very moving rendition of "Mary Did You Know?" was performed by Madilyn Smith.
A small ensemble comprised of Anush Avejic, Jack Lee, Michael Geragos, Madilyn and Nicole Smith accompanied the carolers. Costumes were prepared by Yn. Susan Movsesian. The evening was organized by Fr. Vazken Movsesian, with the blessings of Archbishop Derderian and Fr. Khajag Shahbazyan, parish priest of the Cathedral.
Merry Christmas!
