Armenian Food and Crafts to be Highlighted at the 2018 Smithsonian Folklife Festival

The official presentation of the groundbreaking of Armenian Program of the 2018 Smithsonian Folklife Festival was held at the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Hampar Family Reception Room. The event was held under the auspices of His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese in collaboration with the Embassy of Armenia in Washington, D.C. and the Consulate General of Armenia in Los Angeles.  

Welcoming remarks were delivered by Mrs. Maria Mehranian, President of Armenia Fund.

A thorough presentation about the upcoming festival (June 27 - July 1, July 4-8) was made by Miss Sabrina Motley, Director of the Smithsonian Festival.

In his closing remarks, the Primate of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church Archbishop Hovnan Derderian expressed his gratitude to the Smithsonian Institute for the keen interest in highlighting the richness and the vast offerings of the Armenian culture.
