“Moments in Thought” Presented at the Western Diocese

Silva Katchiguian’s Book “Moments in Thought” was presented at the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church on Thursday, February 1, 2018. Opening remarks were delivered by Cindy Norian, AIWA-LA Board members and Chairlady of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Western Diocese.

In his remarks, Diran Avagyan noted the author’s leadership skills, human qualities, and eloquent expression. “Identifying the desired shade in the broad color spectrum or catching fine tunes in total cacophony is a true artistic talent bestowed upon Silva Katchiguian through divine inspiration, which is the source of the author’s liberty of thought” stated Mr. Avagyan in part.

In the artistic portion of the program singer-songwriter Armen Movsisyan delighted the audience with wonderful renditions of Armenian folk music.

Providing his insight and literary commentary on “Moments in Thought,” Editor-in-Chief of the Armenian Observer Prof. Osheen Keshishian reflected on the author’s literary prowess. He also highlighted Mrs. Katchiguian’s progressive ideas relevant to social, economic and moral issues and touched upon her stance on women’s rights as well as her role in helping to increase the the number of subscribers of the aforementioned newspaper.

In her remarks, Mrs. Katchiguian expressed her wholehearted gratitude to Archbishop Derderian for his pastoral support and guidance, the Ladies Auxiliary for the outstanding organizational efforts in making the event possible as well as the Los Angeles Chapter of the Armenian International Women’s Association (AIWA-LA) for their dedicated support throughout the years. It was especially moving for the audience of more than 100 to hear the author’s perusal of her own recollections, which once again proved not only her literary talent but also her articulate expression.

Closing remarks were delivered by the Diocesan Primate. His Eminence commended Mrs. Katchiguian’s dedicated service to the Western Diocese and its various committees. “Her words radiate from the depth of her heart and capture the reader entirely, for her stories are not only inspirational but also reflect the reality. Her greatest talent however lies in her ability to share her moments of thought with people,” said the Diocesan Primate in part.

The evening concluded with a reception and a book-signing session.
